The pandemic has forced workplaces to examine how they will continue to operate safely while protecting their most important asset, their employees. The Closing Agent in Orlando, Florida like so many other closing settlement companies remained open out of necessity and being declared early in the pandemic to provide “essential services”.
Many workplaces are still trying how to figure out how to make sure offices are safe for visitors and employees alike said Darryll Clark, Chief Operations Officer at The Closing Agent. “At The Closing Agent we have always made it a priority to provide inviting locations that also deliver a safe atmosphere. This has previously been led by way of access control and security cameras, protecting those who work in and visit our offices as well as a high level of data security. At the beginning of the year, with COVID-19 beginning to come into view it was clear the existing way of viewing these control systems, needed to evolve into a more holistic caring system.”
There are many different ways companies can mitigate the risk of COVID-19. Darryll Clark shared a few of the innovative ways The Closing Agent has approached this risk.
Access Control Points
“As a business with multiple locations, having consistent protocols is important to ensure health and safety. Minimizing access points not only limits potential exposure but also enables sanitization stations to be front and center. At the beginning of February, we implemented these stations at each of our offices in anticipation of what would go on to become the COVID-19 pandemic. By getting out in front of the virus we have been able to create a risk-averse culture that is led by our employees and has educated our clients and visitors on the importance of these safety protocols.
Thermal Imaging
“The nature of COVID-19 has encouraged innovative and flexible thinking. It is easy enough to spot someone coughing or having a sneezing fit, but the potential of asymptomatic carriers necessitates out of the box thinking. To address this issue, we have introduced thermal imaging technology powered by a local, Orlando based company, TouchRate. The cutting-edge “Sentinel” system is non-invasive, using a sensor to automatically scan everyone who enters the lobby and sounding an alert if it detects anyone with a temperature of 100.1° or more. The alternative method of manual temperature scanning can be inaccurate and reduces social distancing which can in turn increase the potential risk. The beauty of this system it is it completely autonomous, allowing visitors to go about their business as usual while reinforcing and illustrating our commitment to providing a safe and welcoming atmosphere.”
Automated Employee Health Screening Technology
“While welcoming in guests to our offices, we also want to assure them of the procedures we have in place for the employees they will interact with. As part of our daily routine each employee provides an update on their current work status and well-being. This provides an accurate snapshot of our workforce at any point in time, enabling us to contact trace if necessary and understanding where potential COVID-19 risks may arise.”“The real estate industry is built upon relationships. A regular closing can involve realtors®, mortgage lenders, buyers, sellers, family and more. Our mission has been to adapt our existing procedures to help stop the spread of the coronavirus at the same time as providing a comfortable and safe atmosphere to close in. We are very proud to be at the forefront of these advances that reinforce our commitment to go BeyondTitle®.
