Florida Drivers Beware: A Case For Uninsured/underinsured Insurance
Listen Now
|
Did you know that nearly one in every four drivers in Florida is uninsured? This means there is almost a whopping twenty-five percent (25%) chance that, if you are in an accident in Florida, the other driver will have zero insurance, which is slightly better odds than winning the Powerball (currently sitting at 1 in 292,201,338). Now add in the people who are driving around with minimal insurance barely sufficient to cover one hospital visit, and you’ve potentially got yourself a mess. The people with no insurance also are not likely to have any assets for you to pursue should you be injured, so insurance is often your only recourse. While you will never be able to completely protect yourself, for just a few extra dollars each month, you can get Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (UM/UIM), which helps to compensate you if you are ever in an accident. UM/UIM insurance will cover not only your medical bills, but also pain and suffering, lost wages and other damages. With odds as high as they are that you will be in a wreck with someone who has no (or too little) insurance to cover you and your family, you are crazy if you do not carry UM/UIM coverage. In the unfortunate event you are in a wreck in the greater Orlando area, give our office a call and we will speak to you about the proper course of action to ensure you are fairly compensated for your injuries.
